Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Payment information: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details on our servers. We may store your Stripe customer ID and the last four digits of your card for display purposes.

Usage data: We collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, features used, study content accessed, and general activity patterns. This helps us improve the Service and provide personalized features.

Technical data: We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, and user agent when you access the Service. This is used for security (rate limiting, abuse prevention) and basic analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send essential account communications (password resets, billing notices)
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:

  • Stripe: Payment data is shared with Stripe for payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Content providers: When you use study, research, or sermon features, we send Bible text and your study parameters to third-party service providers to generate content. We do not send your personal information (name, email) to these providers.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the Service.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and secure session management. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is perfectly secure.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies and local storage for:

  • Authentication (keeping you logged in)
  • Session management
  • Storing your preferences (theme, reading position)

We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct your data: Update your name, email, or password from your profile settings
  • Delete your data: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us
  • Export your data: Request an export of your notes, bookmarks, and other user-generated content

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (e.g., financial transaction records for tax purposes).

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
